The Kiwanis Club of Clovis, California is a participating member of Kiwanis International, an world-wide service organization of community volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. Globally, there is over 600,000 Kiwanians volunteering in nearly 100 countries.
Clovis Kiwanis is a part of Division 5 (California-Nevada-Hawai’i District). This division covers the Kiwanis clubs of Fresno and Madera Counties in Central California. The current Lieutenant Governor of Division 5 is Mr. Leonard Federico of the Kiwanis Club of Clovis.
In existence since 1975, the club currently has 50 members representing a wide range of professions, working and retired, including accountancy, finance, legal and medical professions, retail and wholesale sales, contractors, printers, small business owners, educators, and private and public sector employees. Members live both within and without the city limits of Clovis.
The club is involved in a wide range of activities in the community, most notably the Thanksgiving Food Basket Program (November), the Annual Senior Citizen's Christmas Luncheon (December), the 200 Club fund raiser (March), and Freedom Fest Fourth of July Celebration (July). In cooperation with the Kiwanis Club of Old Town Clovis, in alternate years, the Kiwanis Club of Clovis prepares the Rodeo Queen’s Dinner held in April of each year.
The club also sponsors youth organizations including Key Clubs at Clovis North High School and Clovis East High School, supports community-wide service facilities such as the Majoree Mason Center, Break the Barriers, and Special Olympics; cooks pancake breakfasts and other meals for various community events; sponsors bike programs for elementary school children; donates books to the Boys and Girls Club of Clovis; and provides college scholarships for graduating seniors from the high schools in the Clovis Unified School District.
